Pain Conditions, Symptoms & Treatment Options in Albany, Oregon
Practical guides for active adults who want to understand what may be happening, what deserves medical evaluation, and where individualized orthopedic massage and manual therapy may help.
Start With the Problem You Actually Have
You probably did not wake up wanting to research orthopedic manual therapy. You searched because your back hurts, your hand goes numb, your neck will not turn, your heel complains on the first few steps, or something keeps returning every time you try to get back to normal.
This section of the site is organized around those problems. Each guide explains what the symptoms can look like, why they matter, how the problem is commonly diagnosed, what I can assess within my scope, and how hands-on treatment may fit.
It is education, not an internet diagnosis. Bodies are annoyingly creative, and the same symptom can have more than one cause.

Symptoms Are Clues, Not Personal Failures
A diagnosis can be useful. A symptom can be useful. Neither tells the whole story by itself.
I want to know what changes the symptom, what repeatedly brings it back, what movement has disappeared, what you have stopped doing, what treatment helped temporarily, and what your body does differently when the problem is quieter.
That is how we move from “my shoulder hurts” toward something we can actually investigate.
For the thinking behind that process, read Why Pain Keeps Coming Back and Better Questions, Better Body Answers.
When You Need Medical Evaluation First
Hands-on care is not the right first stop for every problem. New severe trauma, rapidly worsening weakness or numbness, loss of bowel or bladder control, unexplained fever or systemic illness, chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden severe headache, or other urgent neurological or medical changes deserve prompt medical evaluation.
If I hear something in your history that sounds outside my scope, I would rather send you to the right person than become emotionally attached to being your answer.

When Relief Helps—but the Same Problem Keeps Coming Back
Sometimes the useful next step is not another treatment. It is getting clearer about the pattern. The Right Problem Workbook helps you separate what you can actually observe from what you assume it means, notice what changes the problem, and test better questions before throwing more solutions at it.
