Chronic pain can feel like it is unbeatable

Sometimes you just feel like you have tried every standard option that has done little to nothing for your pain. The popular alternatives only offer medication, expensive operations where they inject, cut, or burn without actually addressing the root cause of pain problems. Many people think that they can’t solve their pain problems with a massage. Medical massage, or orthopedic/osteopathic bodywork on the other hand, might be the answer you’ve been looking for. Addressing the root cause of your pain with massage is more practical, and in most cases, a permanent way to solve pain problems without surgery or medication. Seeing an experienced therapist should be your FIRST step to identify the source of the problem, not the last. Unfortunately, we are the last house on the block for many.

Total Integrated Therapy offers a means to resolve complicated pain-related issues. Furthermore, we deliver pain-relieving, safe, and therapeutic experiences that you will fall in love with each day and with every service.

“I don’t know what that was, but I want more of that!” – Dr Dave Tuck (after an Osteopathic bodywork treatment)

When Conventional Pain Treatments Don’t Work

A lot of conventional chronic pain treatments simply do not work because you can’t solve the problem by addressing the symptom. Many popular treatment options can cause the underlying problem to get worse, leading to strain patterns or conditioned compensations and then become unhealthy pain patterns. There are better, more natural options, and medical-massage bodywork is one of the best. If you are suffering from chronic pain you are in the right place. There is a good chance can help you with your pain problems so you might not need pills and surgery.

We are a small group of experienced therapeutic massage professionals practicing the art of problem solving in the mind and body that lead to stress and pain. We believe that taking the time to understand the root cause of your chronic pain problems and addressing these causes is far more effective than blindly treating the pain itself. This means a new way of thinking about and treating pain.

At Total Integrated Therapy, we resolve the pain and show you how to avoid having the same pain problems in the future. Medical massage is one of the quickest and easiest ways to feel good in your body again. If you are looking for lasting results for chronic pain problems, contact one of our medical massage professionals in the area today.

Massage Therapy Albany

Results-Based Massage

We use osteopathic, orthopedic, medical, and sports massage techniques (no surgeries, drugs, cutting, burning, or fusing!) and focus on solving the underlying problems for some of the most painful conditions. An experienced massage therapist can address the issues that have been causing you pain.

At Total Integrated Therapy wellness center, we have over 25 years of experience in pain relief healing. We use our knowledge, experience, and understanding to take away your pain and help your body move freely and feel good again. As verified pain relief specialists, we understand how important it is to address the root problem.

Just like drinking water every day is necessary; your body needs regular hydration and oxygen to operate correctly. The work we do significantly improves hydration to dehydrated stuck tissues, enhancing fluid flow and oxygen to areas, creating options for movement and allowing your parts to slide and glide again like healthy tissues.  Therefore, getting your parts working and interacting better is essential for pain relief and long term health and mobility. This is why we recommend getting massages regularly to stay at your best. The better you feel, the more you get done, and have more left over so you can enjoy your life.

Resolve Your Pain Problems – Gain Functional Movement

Among the most effective massage healing disciplines are Medical Massage, Orthopedic, Osteopathic Structural Integration, and Sports Massage. These begin with a physical assessment to see how your body’s parts move in relation to each other. Stress, injury, or pain in the body means there is a “relationship problem” between parts. We find those dysfunctional relationships and correct them. For example, bones are dependent on muscles, which can pull your bones into painful misalignment. That’s where we come in! We use various advanced techniques to address these relationship problems to create a profound relaxation response and a deep healing experience. Remember, bones are SLAVES to muscles and fascia.

  • Working with Muscles Alone = Not Enough. (typical physical therapist, or massage)
  • Working with Bones Alone = Not Enough. (typical chiropractor, physical therapy, or chiropractic approach)
  • Working with Muscles and Bones = Enough! (Total Integrated Therapy)
  • Working with the mind & body = BEST (Total Integrated Therapy)

Why Your Body Deserves Massage

Many people “kick the can” down the road when it comes to pain relief, suppressing it, coping with it, or taking a pill that addresses the symptoms only. We firmly believe that if you tackle the problem at its starting point, then you can save yourself time and money in the long run and benefit from much greater health now and in the future.

Bodywork and massage has many amazing and profound benefits, and there are some you might want to know more about (see The Benefits of Massage.) First and foremost, it is important and highly recommended to create new options for movement in the body around tense, restricted areas that cause imbalanced compensations. To lengthen tight, sore muscles and tissues, and strengthen weak ones. Pain patterns can develop from everyday underuse, overuse, or plain old abuse. Either way, a good massage is like a physical reboot of the body and mind.

A Sign That You Need Help

A sign that you need a proper massage treatment might be when you experience pain or soreness in the body. Pain is the last thing that happens when there is some underlying issue that needs to be resolved. It might be some pain in the neck, pain in the backside, or even the burden of shoulder pain. Whatever the problem may be, the body leaves clues that can help us find the actual culprit. When the culprit is found, the problem can quickly be resolved. Having unresolved issues for long periods of time means getting an experienced massage professional can help you resolve these issues quickly.

Massage is used for a variety of health-related purposes. For instance, massage can not only relieve pain, but it can also reduce stress, rehabilitate sports injuries, speed recovery, address anxiety, and reduce depression, increase relaxation, and general wellness. With this in mind, you should not hesitate to seek the best massage services near you.

Osteopathic Bodywork

Osteopathic bodywork manual massage techniques are among the most effective treatments for quick healing of many specific conditions.  For example, when treating tissues that have been stuck, dehydrated, and disorganized together in a chunk. Muscles and tissues begin to move freely when adhesions and restrictions are resolved.  Long-lasting pain relief is possible for chronic pain issues and sore muscles.

Mobilizing Stuck Tissues

Mobilizing stuck tissues can have a profound effect on eliminating metabolic products and draining lymphatic fluids that remain stagnant in the body. These fluids can cause irritation, inflammation, increase pain, and can trigger muscle spasms or tightness. Not only do we address muscles with deep tissue manipulation, but also hydrate and create space between parts with myofascial release techniques.

Treating More Than Muscles

We treat tendons, ligaments, joints, scars, pinched nerves, facet joints, muscle knots, and other “pain generating” tissues. Smoothing and softening these “abnormal” tissues in the body can be significant. We melt the tension out of any pain generating “ropes, knots, or bumps” so your body functions better, and you get back to your life.

Getting The Best results With Massage

Our massage therapists recommend getting massage regularly. This can quickly restore physical health to tissues and functional movements. When the mind is free from constant pain, you experience freedom.  Furthermore, when you feel good, you are good. Massage releases energy that can lead to increased mood and productivity in life.

I brought my teenage daughter here after trying different modalities for her scoliosis. Dave Ryder was fantastic! Within a few sessions we could see the improvement in her condition and her pain level. He is thorough and takes his time working on the different muscles that are at the root of the issue. It’s so different from a normal massage that I was used to and I’m grateful that we now know Dave who is an amazing medical massage therapist. With such a great experience with my daughter, I didn’t hesitate to bring my son who hurt his neck while snowboarding. I highly recommend Dave Ryder!!

Dave has a true gift and is a master at his profession! I found him to be not only highly skilled on multiple levels but unusually insightful. My first session with Dave was for a physical ailment; the immediate results during the session were remarkable! I have range of motion in ways I did not realize was possible. In my second session, Dave encouraged me to focus more on my mental state by exploring worries and fears. After assisting me in identifying key triggers he then had me repeat phrases back to him while lightly tapping on various areas of my face. I am astounded by the monumental change in my mind chatter! Gone are the old negative tapes that have played on and on and on for years! My mind is calm and present. I feel a new mental freedom that is wonderful beyond description. -Lisa B

I’ve been visiting Total Integrated Therapy to improve back and hip pain, and have been impressed at each visit with their depth of knowledge, advanced techniques, and holistic approach. Their work to discover the underlying causes for my pain, rather than just treat the symptoms, has helped me immensely. I am now able to sleep comfortably through the night, rather than waking up multiple times in pain.

I called Dave Christmas Eve morning, hoping to get in for a massage to help ease some of my headaches and tension in my upper body, and was more than relieved to hear he had an opening! He met me at the door of his office with a wide smile and handshake and welcomed me inside. There was a small information/waiver sheet to fill out and then he led me into the room with the massage table where we did different stretching, body work, and some massage! I wasn’t aware of HOW limited my motion was until we went through some of the stretches and boy was I tense! Just within the one day session we had, my range of movement increased exponentially. Dave went above and beyond what I was expecting out of my appointment and I can’t wait to go back. He is one of the most cordial, warm hearted, and talented bodywork professionals I have had the pleasure to work with and I would recommend him to anyone!

My 88 year old mother had been Dave for knee pain that was starting to interfere with her mobility and had such a positive experience that she recommended that I try Total Integrated Therapy for my persistent back and knee pain. Our whole family has had fantastic results! Dave is so knowledgable and informative as he gets to the root cause of your problem and then leaves you with specific stretches and technics that will keep you pain free. I can whole heartedly recommend Dave Ryder!

Dave takes massage to a new level. I've been suffering with a bad case of tennis elbow. I've had doctor visits prescribing occupational therapy three times a week for over 3 months. One session with Dave made more progress than all of these months in other treatments. He doesn't just massage but incorporates stretching and resistance. And he's able to very precisely target the areas that needs help. I'm both amazed and grateful. Dave is extremely knowledgeable about how the body works and he really cares about his patients. I highly recommend Dave!

Dave Ryder is absolutely the best massage therapist I have used. I have been going to Dave for many years and it is amazing how wonderful I always feel after a massage. He works very hard at getting to the root of your problem so it doesn't return. After trying multiple therapies for tennis elbow, Dave was able to get rid of it and it has not returned. The same for a back problem. His knowledge of the human body is the best I have encountered from a massage therapist, Barr none. You will not be disappointed!

I am a successful medical massage therapist and I credit Dave, in large part, for my education. I have attended several seminars with "big name'" massage therapy instructors and Dave brings the same quality of teaching. His breaks down the material so that his audience can understand and then brings as much information as we can absorb. In addition, he not only brings the mechanical techniques, but he has a unique understanding of how the mind may be contributing to pain in the body. In addition, he brings real tools to address the mind-body connection as well.
